Christmas Movie Date Nights

*Updated November 2021

Devin and I have this tradition where we watch a Christmas on Thanksgiving night and almost every single night leading up to Christmas. It makes the evenings feel festive, and I love discussing which one on our list to watch.

You have to be in it to win it, though. Request the DVDs from the library, dig through that $5 bin at Walmart, check your local thrift store...Don't just approach this all casual like, "Let's check Netflix to see which ones they have" because I guarantee you'll be disappointed and end up spending $5 on OnDemand/Youtube/Wherever You Pay To Watch Movies and let me tell you, those $5's will add up quick.

To be fair, this is a list that Devin and I watch together. I've shared our family-friendly list of Christmas movies here!

So. If you're ready to gather your girlfriends for a Saturday movie night, or if you're going to try and watch 1 Christmas movie a day like us, here's the list:

Favorites from when you were a kid:
  1. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
  2. The Grinch That Stole Christmas
  3. Home Alone 1
  4. Home Alone 2
  5. Home Alone 3
  6. Disney's A Christmas Carol (Devin's pick. I hate this one)
  7. Elf
  8. Jingle all the Way

Newer Christmas Movies:
  1. Office Christmas Party
  2. Bad Moms Christmas
  3. Why Him?
  4. Daddy's Home 2
  5. A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas
  6. The Night Before
  7. Love Actually
  8. Love the Coopers

The Randoms:
  1. Fred Clause
  2. Christmas With the Kranks
  3. The Santa Clause
  4. The Santa Clause 2
  5. The Santa Clause 3
  6. Trading Places
  7. Dennis the Menace Christmas

  1. A Christmas Story
  2. It's A Wonderful Life (my dad's Christmas Eve favorite!)

**Also, I would just like to point out for authenticity's sake that the coffee table I took these pictures on has my toddler's autograph all over it. In pen. And that mug doesn't have real coffee in it.

What movies would you add to this list? Which of these do you love (or hate!)?
