Dad Style & Other Thoughts

I partnered with JORD watches in this post. All opinions are ours.

Today I'm excited to share a bit from Devin's perspective on parenting...usually you hear me going on and on about motherhood (sorry!), but today I'm mixing it up and having Devin share on everything from style to being a father of two. And in case you didn't see the details of my Instagram post yesterday, here's the main point: baby #2 is a GIRL. What?!

What would you never wear?
My gut reaction is v-neck tshirts, but not because I have a problem with them completely (they look fine on other people). I just could never do it. White sneakers, whatever that crazy tunic was that you bought me that one time [it was a cardigan]...

What are some of your go-to items to wear?
Solid colors, hoodies, boat shoes, flip-flops, oh God never sandals. If you ever catch me in a pair of those sandals you'll know I've been kidnapped and brainwashed by a crazy bird-watching family.

What do you like about your JORD watch, having worn it the past few weeks?
I really like the weight of it. It's got the look of a metal link watch, but the weight of it is more similar to a watch with a leather band. I also like--and this is gonna sound weird--the smell of it. It smells like wood, and the finishing oil they send with it probably helps with that. It's also super unique; I've never seen a wood watch before. See more JORD men's watches here

What's your favorite part about being a dad?
Seeing Aiden learn new stuff, which seems like every day...whether it's a new word or watching him climb on something he couldn't get up on the day before...the fact he learned how to blow on his food [to cool it down]...It literally changes everyday. I love watching his personality take shape, which is cool because you usually meet people after their personality is already formed. So it's like watching him grow a personality.

What's been the most challenging part of being a dad?
So far, and what probably always will be, the hardest part is the discipline. You try and tell yourself it'll get easier once he understands it, but I don't think kids ever understand why you're disciplining them until they're adults. So we've got a really long road ahead of disciplining Aiden because it's the right thing to do.

What are you excited about having another newborn?
Well, I'm SUPER excited to have another newborn since I didn't fully appreciate it at the time, but now looking back...it's such a fun stage of life. Newborns are just adorable. I'm also SUPER excited that it's a girl. It's a whole new experience, and I've heard that girls tend to cling to their fathers a little bit more [since Aiden 100% loves Julie more]. But I'm also nervous. Holding a friend's newborn the other day showed me that Aiden does get jealous, and it'll be hard to split your attention between two kids.

What's the weirdest thing dads do?
The only thing that comes to mind is holding your kid up and sniffing their butt in public.
