The Easiest Crockpot Chili

That's a bold name, right? Adding "THE EASIEST" to something really sets a high bar...but I promise, this chili lives up to that. You'll feel like a hero for feeding the family (or your hairdresser, I don't know who you make meals for) something that's super rich in protein and has vegetables in it. I was GOING to call this "The Easiest Crockpot Chili Ever Ever Ever" but that seemed aggressive.

What you need:
(for a 2.5-quart crock pot full of chili...we have this crockpot, so you know what size we're talking)

  • --1 lb. (ish) of ground beef OR ground turkey
  • --1 can crushed tomatoes
  • --1 15.5 oz can black beans, drained, rinsed, you know the drill
  • --1 15.5 oz can of dark red kidney beans, also drained/rinsed
  • --1 onion
  • --1  green pepper
  • --1-2 cloves of fresh garlic, if you're feeling fancy (or you can use 1 tablespoon garlic powder)
  • --3 tablespoons of chili powder
  • --1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • --1/4 teaspoon cumin (a.k.a. just a dash...no need to actually measure out such a small amount!)
  • --Cheddar cheese to sprinkle on top to look impressive

What to do:

  • 1. Brown your meat.
  • 2. While that's happening, chop your 1 onion and 1 green pepper.
  • 3. Dump everything into your crockpot & set it to low.
  • 4. Go to work for 8 hours like a productive member of society.
  • 5. Come home.
  • 6. Enjoy a house that smells amazing and dinner that's already made.

(6-8 hours on low or 3 hours on high)
