Grand Opening of Wild Cedar Co.

The day is finally here! Wild Cedar Co. is open for business on Etsy!! (All the praise hand emojis!)

Last week, I shared how the idea for an Etsy shop grew, but today I wanted to explain the name behind the shop.

-------------------------

In Isaiah 41, God is talking to the exiled Israelites and he tells them...

I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys.
I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs.
I will put in the wildnerness the cedar and the acacia, the mytrtle and the olive.
I will set junipers in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together,
so that people may see and know, may consider and understand,
that the hand of the Lord has done this,
that the Holy One of Israel has created it. (Isaiah 41:18-20, italics mine)

When reading this, I was struck by how he is providing for these people that are estranged from their homes. He loves them and protects them, because they're his. Also, what this translation labeled "the wilderness" other versions call "the desert," which is not where such a variety of trees grow! God is demonstrating his care for his people and his creative power when he says he will make the cedars, myrtles, firs, and cypresses grow.

Hence, the Wild Cedar Co.

The "Wild Cedar" is a symbol of how God creates life in the wasteland.

May each sign and attempted use of creativity point back to the loving, protective God who made us.

Head over to my Instagram where I'm hosting a giveaway later this morning to celebrate the grand opening of the Etsy shop!
